Charles and Ray Eames
Charles Eames was an architect, inventor, designer, craftsman, scientist, film-maker and professor. But in general, he was a creator, not of a series of separate achievements, but of a unified aesthetic with many branching manifestations. Imos' films are not an independent unit, but more like a branch; they derive not from the history or tradition of cinema, but from culture at the highest level rooted in many fields. Let us give a brief biographical sketch to give a general idea of the scope of his career; but it is important to note that Imus will always be greater than the simple sum of his occupations. Born in St Louis in 1907, Eames studied architecture at Washington University, began working in 1930, and in 1940 married the painter Ray Kaiser, who helped him with all of his later work.
